Welcome to Lower UMC!
We are a vital congregation where you can find a small group to fit your interests and needs. Here we engage all ages in worship, but we also develop new disciples, grow the faith of our members and engage them in ministry and mission. Take a look at some of our small groups and join us in our vision to grow in grace to bless the world!
JOY CLASS – Sunday School - 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM - downstairs
We are a lively adult class led by Ms. Frances Johnston. It is a very diverse class with participants ranging in age from young to mature adults, making for lively discussions. The Quarterly is used as a guide for our lessons. One of the primary objectives in these lessons is to “help ourselves and others through the passage of life by leading us to the love of Christ” with “joy” in our hearts! Come and join us!
AGAPE CLASS – Sunday School - 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM - downstairs
Our mission is to explore how Biblical principles are relevant for today, through active and open discussions that allow us to gain perspective on current events as well as the challenges in our personal, professional and family lives. Following God’s call in our lives, we equip and empower each other to offer our gifts in service in order to have a positive impact in our church and community.
EXPLORERS CLASS - Sunday School - 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM - downstairs
We provide adults with an opportunity to expand their knowledge of biblical scholarship and church history toward the goal of developing a more mature theology and understanding of what it means to follow Jesus in today’s world. Adults of all ages are invited to participate.
ACTIVE ADULTS – Sunday School - 9:30 AM to 10:30 AM - upstairs
Our group consists of an intermingling of generations, both men and women. Our Sunday school class explores the Bible utilizing United Methodist Church resources while the Thursday afternoon group contributes socially, educationally and financially to our church, our community and our world. Over the years, we have been responsible for many additions to the church. Through Child Fund International we provide monetary support for a 2 year old Brazilian boy until he turns 21. We encourage him to stay in school, drink clean water, have access to medical care and generate hope for the future. We welcome anyone interested in fellowship with and for our “golden years” generation.
NEW BEGINNINGS –
Our group gathers each Thursday from 6:00 to 7:30 in the lower level of the Fellowship Hall. Participants select a book or DVD by a renowned biblical scholar, theologian or spiritual guide as the focus for each discussion series. Adults of all ages are invited to participate in these theologically and spiritually challenging weekly discussions.
JUNIOR AND SENIOR HIGH SCHOOL—
Sunday School - 9:00 AM to 10:00 AM
We are the "no longer children, but not quite adults" area of our church. Feel free to check out our events on the church calendar and join in on the fun! We are always finding new ways to raise funds for our projects.
Through open discussion where thoughts and opinions are welcomed, we study the Bible, seeking the truth and explore how to make God’s will a part of our lives. We make the word of God real allowing the Holy Spirit guide us closer into a relationship with Christ. We uncover distortions in TV and media and provide a basic foundation for this age group to move forward with a desire to seek out the truth using the Bible in their everyday lives and become leaders in the Church and dedicated people of Jesus Christ.
