NEW STUDY – Everyone is welcome to join the Active Adults Sunday school class as they begin a new 13 week Bible study on Romans. Active Adults meets on the upper level of the Fellowship Hall. For more information, please see Addie Walker, Mary Lou Hollingshead or Virginia Thomas.
RESPITE CARE MINISTRY – The focus of our Respite Care ministry has shifted to home visits rather than providing care here at the church. If you know of anyone who might be interested in respite care in their home, please see Mary Lou Hollingshead.
York River District Conference - The York River District Conference is scheduled for Sunday, September 23 from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. at Chestnut Memorial UMC. That day we will elect 33 District At-Large Delegates to attend the 2019 Annual Conference in Roanoke.
Commission on a Way Forward Q&A Event - If you have questions about the Commission on a Way Forward, the
Commission’s reports going before General Conference 2019 or GC2019 itself then save the date for “A Way Forward: A Q&A event with Bishop Sharma D. Lewis, the Rev. Tom Berlin, and Ms. Martha Stokes.” The 90-minute event will be held on Wednesday, September 26 at 7:00 p.m. at Reveille UMC, 4200 Cary Street Rd, Richmond, VA 23221-2526. ALZHEIMER’S WALK – Raise awareness and money for Alzheimer’s research by participating in an Alzheimer’s Walk in Urbanna on Saturday, October 6th . For more information, see Mary Lou Hollingshead.
WORLD COMMUNION SUNDAY – On Sunday, October 7th Christians around the world will celebrate World Communion Sunday - an international ecumenical celebration of Christian unity. Look for your special offering envelope in the bulletin that day, giving you the opportunity to contribute to the UMC Special Sunday Offering for World Communion Sunday.
RELIGION AND SCIENCE – Register for our presentation scheduled on Sunday, October 7th from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. Call the church office to register. Dr. Dean Decker will lead a discussion on our views regarding science (including scientists and technology) and explore these thoughts along with the differences between knowledge and faith. CHARGE CONFERENCE – We will host local Methodist churches again this year for Charge Conference on Tuesday, October 16th at 7:00 p.m.
BOAZ BOX – Please contribute nonperishable food items as you can. Protein items such as peanut butter, canned tuna/chicken, soup are especially needed.
